That was Alissa's MSN name yesterday. The day before that and for half of that day it was ":(" and her personal message was "is broken". Caleb's MSN name has gone back to what it was before but yesterday it was the same as Alissa's; ":(". Their Facebook statuses have gone back to normal and they're both still listed as engaged to each other but they're not well possibly not but the way I see it at the moment; they're not. And no matter how many times Alissa says she is ok. I know she's not but she just won't talk to me about it. Alissa was on MSN all day yesterday which means she wasn't at work which is a little weird but if I was going through what they are going through I wouldn't be at work either. She wasn't on today meaning she's back at work. He was meaning he's not at work which is pretty standard on a Tuesday. I don't know who's side I'm on. I don't even know the whole story because I asked Caleb to tell me and he just went offline. And I know where he went and I'm really disappointed in him right now. Maybe I'm taking her side. The thing is. I know how being on either side of this situation feels and neither is worse. They both are just as bad as each other no matter what anyone says. I don't even know what I think of this situation. Alissa and Caleb are a pretty complicated and involved unit and what they had seemed to work up until now. I looked up to these guys. I wanted Mark and I to be like these guys. Mark said that you can never just have sex that there's always feelings and now Caleb isn't just having sex with other people he's having feelings. In fact he's not having sex with this one girl he's just having feelings. Feelings that are going to tear him and Alissa apart. They've always been good at this. They've always had casual sex with other people and it's always worked. They've been friends with these people much like I was friends with Melissa but they never had the issues that I had. But now they do. Now Caleb has met someone that he thinks he's in love with. And now everything else for them seems so insignificant because everything they know about each other has come to a stand still. Life as they know it is at a stand still. Caleb now has to decide whether he wants to chance it with this new girl or stay and try to patch things up with Alissa who is incredibly just broken over all of this. There is no other word for it. She's not hurt or devastated. She's not in pain over this. She's broken. Not irrepearable but still broken. It's not about what Caleb will do next. Sure what he does next will change things forever but things have already been changed for ever. Things will never go back to the way they were even if they try for it. You could blame Caleb for wanting to be with this other girl but he feels something for her. I don't think you can control who you love. You meet someone and fall in love there's no choice about it. However I do believe that you do have some say. I know from experience that you fall in love with people you don't intend to but you can stop that. It's hard but you can. Anyone has the power to take a step back and look at the whole situation and then decide if they want to jump in feet first and see where it goes or you can choose to high tail it out of there to avoid any complications or anything like that. You can't have both. It just doesn't work. I've tried it. I tried with Melissa and well we all know how that turned out. I think Caleb is trying for both. He wants to be with this other girl but he doesn't want to leave Alissa. Polyamory might be the answer as opposed to just having sex. They could have relationships but Caleb says that Alissa doesn't want that. I think it might be too involved for her or she's up for sex but not relationships. Maybe this is what she's scared of. Maybe she knew this would happen and wanted to prevent it. Maybe she thought she would be safe with just sex and no romantic attatchments. Polyamory could save them it could mean that Caleb could see both this girl and Alissa but I doubt very much if Alissa would so much as even consider that option right now. She's broken and he's too busy thinking about himself. Well that's my opinion anyway. He's broken her trust but from what I hear she's willing to try again. He tells me that she wants to stay together which I think is an amazing thing because in situations like this it's normally the one who does wrong that wants to sort it out while the wronged wants to get as far away as possible. I go on to tell him that you can never know what's going to happen. I tell him that he could go with this girl and chance it and loose Alissa who he loves and the chance might work out or it might backfire. Or he could stay with Alissa and work things out and still not know if they would live together for ever. You just don't know. Every minute is life changing. Every minute takes you in a new direction. Who's to say that they could live together forever when something might happen tomorrow that would break them up anyway. I usually say do whatever you want but some things need thinking through. I guess I think he's making the wrong choice. I guess this puts me on Alissa's side even though she doesn't know it. She doesn't even know I know about any of this. She wouldn't tell me even though I hinted that I knew. Well I messaged her about an hour ago telling her that I knew and that I was here for her. She hasn't messaged back yet but she's at work and I just changed my phone service provider over so I might not be getting any messages for a while due to that. I don't know why I think he's making the wrong choice. I wanted to leave Mark. But it wasn't for Melissa. It was because I was doubting myself and my feelings. I didn't fall in love with anyone else. I hadn't given a ring and made a promise to Mark like Caleb has done with Alissa. I didn't want to leave Mark to be with Melissa like Caleb wants to leave Alissa to be with this other girl. I didn't go behind anyone's back but I almost did. The only reason I didn't was because I couldn't it wasn't possible. I would have though and maybe that makes me as bad as Caleb but I chose to stick it out and work things out with Mark because I loved him. In the end I didn't want to leave him. I just wanted something that was entirely impossible on all accounts and from all involved. Caleb wants something that is very possible at the expense of his relationship. What I wanted was also at the expense of my relationship but it couldn't happen. Me leaving him wouldn't have been for that reason anyway. I think it's always horrible when someone leaves their partner for someone else. Caleb and Alissa are no different despite their relationship and how they have sex with other people. What he did is still classed as cheating because he went behind her back and did something that she probably would have approved of if he had asked her. Well she wouldn't have approved of it if she knew that this would be where they would end up. Communication is key in relationships. You need to discuss things and obviously the only discussion going on in their relationship has been arguing. I'm not really sure if Caleb understands the enormity of this little tight spot he's got himself into. He wants both things. Things that contradict each other. He wants a relationship with Alissa which is an amazing relationship that works for them and it probably wouldn't work for anyone else I know. But he also wants this other girl and neither Caleb or this other girl are content with it being an on the side thing. I believe in polyamory. I really do. I want to try it with Mark when he's ready. But I don't think that in this situation it will work for Caleb and Alissa. I don't think Caleb wants both of them at least not at the same time. He wants to be with this other girl now and be with Alissa later when he's over this girl. Alissa wants to be with Caleb and continue the relationship that they have. She doesn't want there to be another girl who is more important than sex and friends. She doesn't want someone who might be more important than her and by the way that Caleb talks it sounds as if this other girl just might be more than a little romantic fling. I'm not sure if Caleb knows that if he chooses to leave Alissa that she probably won't take him back ever again. I'm sure he knows but I'm not sure that he gets it. I'm not sure that he gets that if he goes for this other girl that he won't wake up next to Alissa again he won't get to be with her or laugh with her or do the things he loves with her. They won't have their crazy work schedule and sex parties together and they won't be Caleb and Alissa anymore. He'll just be Caleb. There is a possibility that she might take him back but if he leaves her now and doesn't take the chance to stay with her there's a real chance that this is it for them. And I don't want this to be it for them. I've never really had much to do with Alissa. I don't talk to her that much because she's hardly ever on MSN. I try to get them to come out with us but she doesn't like the places we go. It is completely possible that the only reason I've ever talked to her is because I might want to get into her pants one day. But I hear she doesn't think too badly of me either so it doesn't matter. Even though I probably wouldn't class me and Alissa as friends. I still care about her. I know how much this hurts. Mark knows how much this hurts. We've been through this more than once and not just with Melissa. Mark wanted to leave me at one point. He almost cheated on me with the girl we had our first threesome with but ages after. He wanted to leave me but he choose to stay. He decided that I was worth it. I decided that he was worth it after Melissa. Caleb must know how this feels or at least he should be able to empathise with it. I know that Alissa isn't ok. I know she's broken. I've felt how she's felt but then again I've also felt how Caleb feels. I know what it's like from both sides. The view isn't pretty but it isn't completely bleak either. Caleb has a choice to make. Alissa has already made her move. She's put herself out there with her heart on a silver platter and now she just has to wait. She's told him that she's willing to stay that she's willing to try. Now all he has to do is decide if he wants to stay or go. It's not an easy decision but it should be. I think he already knows what he wants to do he's already mostly made his choice and that's why he's all torn up inside. He knows what he has to do but doesn't want to do it. He doesn't want to hurt either of these girls but the reality is that one of them is going to end up happy and the other is going to end up broken. That's just how it goes. He has to hurt one of them. I know he's thinking of himself right now which is important but he needs to think about Alissa. They've been together for six years I think. I think it's wrong to throw it away now. I've always thought cheating is wrong but it hasn't stopped me doing it myself. I'm not proud of that fact either. Caleb isn't proud of being in this situation but now that he is he's got a lot of thinking to do. He needs to think about what he really wants. He needs to picture himself in a week a month a year five years and figure out where he wants to be. I had a turning point. One weekend I imagined myself at the next weekend and I was single and I didn't want to be. That's why I chose not to leave Mark. I didn't want to be where I imagined myself even though that option was more likely at that time. So then I worked to change it. Now Caleb has to imagine himself and figure out where he wants to be. It's not an easy choice but it's one that needs to be made. I don't want Caleb and Alissa to break up. I don't even know them that much and maybe I'm just being selfish in thinking that my opinion is important here but I really think that they could survive this. Throughout this weekend since Caleb told me how he was feeling. I've always told him to do what he thinks is right but at the same time trying to convince him to forget about this other girl and stay with Alissa. But whatever happens. I will probably still remain friends with both of them. I just want them to survive this. I just want them to be happy with what happens. They both need to be happy. And even though I'm disagreeing with the way that Caleb is handling things. I'll still be there for him.
