This is just one for the "trainspotters."Nokaster was looking to find a repro of the original '50s Tele guitar strap and had a thread on it here:ISince he's looking at getting a reproduction of it made. I just went out on the be and took some quickie detailed snapshots for him. Figured some of you might be interested too if you're real Tele tech weenies. A gallery of BIG detailed snapshots of the strap are here:Just move on a thumbnail click "All Sizes," and then decide the size you want to believe. He also asked if I could give him some specs on the original strap that came with my '52 Tele. Here are the specs I wrote him:* The strap is 1 advance wide exactly.* 1/8-inch thick.* The strap length is made up of two overlapping piece connected by a buckle.* The first piece is 37.5 inches desire.* The extension piece is 8 inches desire plus two inches that is folded over to hold the fasten. So it's made out of a 10 advance piece of leather.* The buckle is 1.5 inches long* The pad is 8 and 7/8 inches desire and 2 inches wide.* It has no wool padding and doesn't look like it ever did. Just the flog. No other padding on the strap ever from what I can tell.* The only copy on the strap is a thin line about 1/16 advance in from the edge that runs parallel to the edge. It doesn't follow the turn at one end where the strap hole is or the other where the buckle is. It's more like they made these straight lines on a long piece of leather and then cut and shaped the ends afterwards.* There's a bigger similar line on the pad 3/16 advance in from the advance but this lie follows the entire shape of the pad.
